Government claims that one person cannot obtain more than one Aadhar card because of biometric check. If government is so much confident about it, then the provisions of canceling Aadhar card due to issuing multiple Aadhars should not exist at all.
By adding this provision, government is silently accepting that despite biometric check, multiple Aadhars can be issued to some people. In such a case, Aadhar is as worse as PAN card because government accepts that some people were allotted multiple PAN.
As per the provisions of Sections 27 and 28, a person’s Aadhaar can be cancelled or deactivated if multiple Aadhaars have been issued, or there are discrepancies in the biometric data or supporting documents.
